WORD OF THE DAY - Sunday 02 May 2010

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship. (Romans 12:1 NIV)

Most Kind and Merciful God, our Holy Father in Heaven ~ Thank you for this new Lord’s Day and the uplifting joy that comes when saints around the world gather in Jesus’ name for sincere worship. Renew our sense of commitment to daily live the good life that you are pleased with and that is revealed plainly in your holy word. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Photos: God richly blesses us with so many spiritual blessings on each visit to the Boys Home. Yesterday in the morning, we sent down to the main boulevard in the city where they were having a May Day parade. It was typical of many such parades that honor workers and talk about how bad the employers behave. The local Communists have not died and were the ones who had the podium with several speeches. There was much nostalgic memorabilia and Soviet era patriotic songs. After that, we walked up to the central bazaar to buy some things to take to the boys. Since Margarita was pleased that we wanted to have a time of fellowship with the boys after the Bible study, we decided to have a birthday party once a month for those with a birthday in that month. This was a wonderful time of getting better acquainted with the boys, and they all hope that they can come to our church meetings in the future. This summer, we will have an opportunity to conduct a Bible Camp at our church meeting place as we have done before, and it sounds like they can come to that. Last week we left them some poster paper and suggested that they make posters that show what we have been learning about character development. They surprised us with the posters they all wanted to give us that show how much they love us. One poster showed a cool car coming across the bridge and they are presenting us with the keys so we don't have to walk. I plan to put more of the poster pictures on our blog, so maybe you can check those out if you have time and interest. In our Bible study all the boys took turns reading from our study from Matthew 7:13-27. We were discussing the character trait of COURAGE in the face of trial and temptation. They understand all about troubles and the need for courage to do the right thing. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement.
