WORD OF THE DAY - 23 June 2010

The Ukrainian countryside between Donetsk and Slavyansk. So we may say with boldness, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me. (Hebrews 13:6)

Our Dear Heavenly Father ~ Thank you for the precious gift of life on this day that brings fresh joy as we consider our relationship as your children by faith. Give us wisdom so that we will live each day without fear of failure because we know for certain that our basic needs are always covered. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Photo 2: Just to give you some perspective of the geography of Ukraine, counting the time from Nikolaev to Kherson, and the 2 hour ride from Donetsk to Slavyansk, it took us a total of 15 hours. It still remains difficult for the average person to travel around the country. Many more people have automobiles these days, but they are still in the minority. I asked a taxi driver in Donetsk how long it takes to drive the distance to Nikolaev and he said it is about 8 hours of hard driving. Anyway, not much long after our arrival here on Tuesday morning, Sonya brought joy to her great-grandmother Elena by exploring her sumptuous garden with her and tasting some of several varieties of currants along with some raspberries and strawberries. I was able to find some time to pull some weeds in the large garden in between rain showers. Hopefully, we will have an opportunity to go into town and send and receive e-mail. Our cell phone connection that I sometimes use for Internet is not too good here. Thanks for the prayers of faith.
