WORD OF THE DAY - Friday 07 August 2009

Through these, are given unto us extremely great and precious promises: that by them you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through evil desire. (2 Peter 1:4)

Most Holy God, our Beloved Father in Heaven ~ We offer up our sincere gratitude for the countless blessings and opportunities that are given to us today. Give us wisdom, strength and courage to confront all challenges with confidence as we rely upon your infallible truth. Help us to maintain focused upon the certain promises that are available to those who follow Jesus as Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.

We made it to Friday! Today we conclude our daily Children's Bible Class with more great teaching from Oxana and Viktor. We are just amazed at how much hard work Oxana has put into the preparation and the most enthusiastic delivery of the lessons. They will leave us on Sunday to go back to their work in Svyatogorsk, Ukraine. We plan to continue to offer children's Bible classes each Saturday at 2.00. We may lack some of the energy of our most excellent helpers, but we will try to make up for that by giving the children our love. Yesterday, Viktor read the story of Jesus walking on water and Peter's experience with having trusting faith in the Lord. Oxana reinforced this with the handwork that they colored and assembled. We were busy on the sidelines helping cut out shapes, (Galina said I was too slow) giving drinks of water to hot kids and adults, handing out prizes, and trying to keep everybody happy and nice to one another. Another grandmother came by to see what is going on and promised that she will attend church services on Sunday. She said that what we are doing is all the kids talk about. One of our friends in America has volunteered to help us buy a copy machine for the church. After all the fuss of this week, we will have more time to go out and look for the best deal. One other person offered to help us provide the children with Bibles. We will also investigate the best source for these in the next few days. Thank you for your constant encouragement and prayers. If all the pictures are too much for you, just let me know. At least I had the good sense not to send a video of them singing the famous "Father Abraham" VBS song in Russian. Maybe you'd like to see that?
