WORD OF THE DAY - Thursday 06 August 2009

He raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap, that he may set him with princes, even with the princes of the people. He gives the barren woman a home, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD! (Psalm 113:7-9)

Dear God, our Most Kind and Perfect Father in Heaven ~ Thank you for innumerable experiences that reveal how you do not leave your people to struggle in humiliation and defeat. Help us to be genuinely concerned for those who are needy in this life and show them the power of your great love. In Jesus name, Amen.

Wednesday turned out to be another day that the children surprised us by their regular attendance at the daily Bible classes. They like to bring their friends. Viktor and Oxana's boys, Ilya and Nazar have already made friends here and are comfortable to go home with some boys and play with them. One grandmother who cares for her 9 year old grandson, said he kept telling her about all the children who were attending some Bible classes. He said they all liked it and he wanted to come, so she had to come check us out. She wanted to see what kind of Bible we use, and who does the teaching. We expect to see much more of this influential grandmother Evgenya in the future. After she left, she stopped to report on her conversation with us to other women sitting in the courtyard. The word about our activity is the best advertisement we can have right now. Installers came yesterday to run cables for Internet into our apartment. Today, another associate comes to set up our connections. Galina and I continue to run around the area looking for a place to make copies. We found some friendly people yesterday who have a wholesale business selling all types of bags, suitcases, briefcases and backpacks to retailers in the southern part of Ukraine. It is refreshing to see the dynamics of the people who work with great energy against many obstacles to establish their businesses. Most of these people that we meet encourage us in our work and indicate that they will attend if they can find time. I suppose that is the same the world over.
