WORD OF THE DAY - Monday 13 September 2010 from Mykolayiv, Ukraine

Nikolai is very active in the local society and in the country of Ukraine. He invited us to a regatta that will be held this coming Saturday. He will be busy taking people on tours in his yacht at the large bay. There will be many dignitaries and he will call on me to say a prayer at some point in the festivities. Since the time he first invited us to Nikolaev, he has never shied away from using his influence to advance the cause of Jesus Christ. We have a long day ahead of us with five appointments with various individuals to study English using the Bible and the WEI lessons. Thank you for joining us in prayer for the salvation of souls here in this part of the Former Soviet Union.

Following our worship service, we had a time devoted to becoming better acquainted with one another. As usually happens, we began to discuss the scriptures. Our brother Nikolai is a student by long distance (Internet) at the Institute of Theology and Christian Ministry - ITCM in St. Petersburg, Russia. Ivan and Olga from Magadan are also studying with this institute. Igor Egirev, the current President of ITCM is a friend of ours who helped us as a translator when we conducted the first gospel campaign to launch the Church of Christ in Magadan, Russia. Nikolai raised some points from his studies and we had a robust discussion of God's word. It was edifying for everyone.

Yesterday we had our usual small group of five in attendance for worship. A few people poked their heads in the door out of curiosity but didn't come in to stay. We pray that they will return.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12 NIV)
(Juan 8:12 NVI)

Eternal and Blessed God, our Dear Heavenly Father ~ Thank you for the bright sunshine of your love that greets us on this new day. As we consider the powerful teachings of our Lord and Savior, give us wisdom so that we will know how to navigate through the darkness of spiritual ignorance, and be better equipped to convince doubters to wholeheartedly accept the teaching of Christ as the absolute truth. Help us to hold up the dazzling light of Jesus before this dark world. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
