WORD OF THE DAY - Friday 03 September 2010 from Nikolaev, Ukraine

Liz and Brian Wakefield will be coming to Nikolaev in less that 5 weeks!

Yesterday after a little period of rest following our arrival on the bus in the morning, we began to work our on plans for our session at the Boys Home tomorrow morning. We also did some planning for what we may do with students at the Nikolaev State Pedagogical University. We are still not certain if they want me for only 4th and 5th year students or some other group(s). We will learn soon and then make more concrete plans. In the evening we had our Bible study with two present besides ourselves. Just as we were about to begin, our first phone call came from our new advertisements. The caller wanted more information about our courses and sounded like someone who may also have a language school here in Nikolaev. We always expect those type calls. Of course we will not deny one of these people to take our course and improve their English and learn God's word at the same time. At least we know our advertisements are working. We have been in correspondence with Brian and Liz Wakefield who are planning to come visit with us for one week next month. While they are here, we will get them involved in various phases of our work, in order to give them a taste of the work of foreign missions. Brian was previously serving as the Youth Minister at the Dalraida Church of Christ. We always hope that our visitors will be able to stay longer, but I also know that many times even a brief exposure to mission life is all it takes to set a fire burning in someone to give their life to world evangelism. The call for workers in the Harvest Field of the Lord often goes unheeded by many people - young and old alike. We are constantly praying for workers to return or become newly involved in the great tasks and open door that exists in the country of Ukraine and elsewhere in this world. Please join us in that prayer as we wait for the Lord's appearing.

Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men. (Proverbs 22:29 ESV)
(Proverbios 22:29 NVI Spanish)

All Powerful and Merciful God, our Dear Father in Heaven ~ Thank you for the marvelous blessings that shower upon us on this new day that burns bright with new hopes. We are reminded of Joseph who faithfully stood before the ruler of Egypt for many decades and his word carried the force of the ruler. Help young people who are struggling for a better job to support their families, to realize that being diligent in their present work is far more important than who they hang out with. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
