WORD OF THE DAY - Wednesday 01 September 2010

We had to make another all night run to Slavyansk in order to receive the extension on our current stay in Ukraine. At least that is what we are hoping and praying will happen when we keep our appointment with the officer in the police department that handles immigration issues. It is about 04.00 in the morning and the bus is slowly making its way toward Donetsk where we will get off this bus and onto a micro-bus for Slavyansk. As soon as we arrive there we will go straight to the passport office and take our place in line. Now we are coming close to Krasnoarmiesk for a brief stop before heading on. Before we left Nikolaev yesterday, I signed off on the advertisement for our English classes using World English Institute lessons. The advertising agency owns special sign boards that are strategically place at areas where people congregate or walk by. This will also appear on the front page of an advertising paper that is distributed to many businesses and organizations in the area. We are praying that this fresh campaign will result in at least one more soul coming to Christ for salvation. Also yesterday we had a most encouraging letter from Dick Ady who is the president of World English Institute. Dick was encouraging us in our efforts and once again offering to bring a group of people here in 2011 to stay for three weeks of intense daily teaching of the gospel using the WEI courses. He also suggested that another group is planning to come and stay for an additional 2 or 3 weeks. This is all such wonderful news, and we are praying that we will be capable of being the hosts for such a group of people. Please join us in prayer that our small newly forming congregation will be able to do everything that is required of the host church for such an effort to be effective. Thank you in advance for those prayers. Now it is around 2.00 in the afternoon and we are stopping at Galina's mama's house to check on her. Happily, she reported to Galina that her wound is healed. We had a good discussion with her at lunch about the events in Revelation that some Jehovah's Witness friends are constantly filling her head with. I'm trying hard to get her to focus on the victorious Lord Jesus Christ. We will leave in a few minutes for the bus station here in Slavyansk and then back to Donetsk where we will ride the night bus again back to Nikolaev. Diana, the officer who did the leg work for our extension here in Ukraine, stamped our passports and handed them to us with a big smile. We noticed a New Testament on her desk and wanted to open a discussion. Galina suggested that we leave with our extension and talk to her another time about her faith. At least she might be investigating the Lord if she is not already a believer.

Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth. (Revelation 3:10 NIV)
(Apocalipsis 3:10 NVI Spanish)
Almighty God, our Kind and Dear Father in Heaven ~ Thank you for the boundless benefits that accrue to us as we walk in step with Jesus. Give us more of your patience so that we will be able to carry on as faithful Christians as we suffer various trials that test our faith. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
